Learn Hypnosis the Old-Fashioned Way

Modern technology allows us to utilize powerful distance learning systems to deliver a hypnotherapy education that combine seamlessly with in-house, hands-on practical hours. From Mesmer to Freud, we have come a long way in our ability to understand the mind and its incredible power, yet hypnotherapy has come very far since the early days of psychoanalysis. Many do not know that Sigmund Freud himself used hypnosis to develop significant portions of Psychoanalytic Theory. Click Here to learn more about learning hypnosis from the early masters.

Franz Anton Mesmer
Originating his work in Vienna, and then eventually taking it to Paris, the early pioneer of the hypnosis movement was clearly the man from which the term Mesmerism comes from. Mesmer believed in an unseen, yet palpable, force known as Animal Magnetism. His belief in this force and in its ability to induce an altered state was undeniable, yet many scientists and physicians of his day felt that his theories were untrue and that Mesmer was healing through the power of belief, imagination and suggestion alone. This put Mesmerism out of the forefront of the healing arts for almost one hundred years.

Dr. James Braid
The word hypnosis comes from the pioneering work of Dr. Braid, who realized that practitioners could get the same results as Mesmer without the belief in an unseen and unprovable force. He saw that a state resembling sleep could be induced through properly worded suggestions and therefore coined the term “hypnosis” based upon the Greek god of sleep “Hypnos.” Dr. Braid made the use of the altered state popular again by allowing it to be accepted by those of a scientific disposition.

Where We Are Today
To learn hypnosis today, and to become a hypnotherapist, places us in a powerful lineage of teachers, healers, scientists, metaphysicians and physicians alike. We now use state-of-the-art technology to deliver a hypnosis education, yet we remember the importance of unseen forces such as love, compassion, kindness, generosity, and forgiveness. By honoring the highest intentions of our predecessors, we can now take hypnotherapy to the heights of our highest intentions as well.

Enter Interpersonal Hypnotherapy
Beyond mere suggestion therapy, and beyond even the powerful regressive hypnosis model, we have a new way of approaching the topic of hypnosis by honoring the sacredness of each and every relationship that we have. Our clients are seen in the light of compassion and their underlying issues are addressed at their very roots. Now, with hypnosis, we no longer address symptoms, illness, emotions or even false beliefs directly. We watch as these conditions fall away on their own by resolving the relationships that are held within the memories of ourselves and our clients. Through forgiveness, we lead our clients back into personal wholeness, as we always remember the real heart of every issue that we are faced with.

The highest intentions of all practitioners of the healing arts is to heal and to make whole. In Interpersonal Hypnotherapy, we have been willing to be bold enough to go beyond our gracious predecessors and to empower as many people as possible to use hypnosis to heal the world. Many are called to this wondrous profession, and those that succeed in it find rewards that are greater than they ever could have imagined. Learn more at www.InstituteofHypnotherapy.com.
