Earning state-licensed diplomas in the field of hypnotherapy is only the beginning of a successful career as a hypnotherapist. Graduates from hypnotherapy schools are often quite optimistic about their opportunities to help others and to earn a healthy living. Getting started on the right foot will help to ensure success for many years to come. Read more here…
I’ve graduated. Now what?
Fortunately, there are many rewarding paths to take once you have earned your credentials. Many graduates engage in a full-time practice immediately after their training is complete, where they have their own office, make their own hours, and enjoy the fulfillment of helping others to transform their own lives. Other graduates engage only in a part-time hypnotherapy practice. This might include having their own office or sharing space with another practitioner. Many graduates use hypnosis training as an adjunct to other trainings that they have, such as massage, life coaching, acupuncture, and yoga. There are as many variations to what a practice might look like as there are hypnotherapists. The beauty found in becoming a hypnotherapist is that you can do virtually whatever you want with the training.
Can I get a job and take insurance?
Currently, hypnotherapists generally work for themselves as their own bosses. There are occasional times when a graduate reports working for a larger organization, yet in these cases there is a loss of revenue as the larger organization will always receive a percentage of your income. At the Institute of Interpersonal Hypnotherapy, we almost always encourage graduates to empower themselves with their own businesses. Our training includes in-depth advertising and marketing strategies, which accompany business and practice management strategies, to allow graduates to succeed on their own. Currently, hypnotherapy is not typically accepted by insurance. At first this can seem like a disadvantage, yet by not being part of the insurance industry, we get paid immediately when services are rendered, we can offer sliding-scales to help our financially challenged clients, we avoid the diagnostic model, and we empower our clients to pay for their own care, which is statistically shown to increase a client’s success rate.
Am I alone after I graduate?
No, not at all. IIH graduates have lifetime access to our online library of training materials, therefore, even after many years have passed since graduation educational materials are still readily available and updated to meet current industry standards. After graduation, IIH graduates may still interact with their local Directors, Instructors, Supervisors and Mentors. Post-graduate mentoring is always available. Graduates also benefit from being part of the IIH and IAIH communities where in-person and online forms of meeting up are always available. Support is always just a phone call away.
