People often think of the word “mystical” as referring to things that appear magical and awe-inspiring. We are drawn to the concept of mysticism and yet the depths of what this word means can have profound implications on our lives. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy training can align us to that which is truly mystical. Read more here for the mystical side of your hypnosis training…
What is Mysticism?
In the world’s great religions, we find external and internal practices of basic principles. External movements deal more with rituals, ceremonies, weekly services, holy books, clothing choices, and many other themes designed to get us to live better lives, align ourselves with that which is sacred and to ideally help other people in the process. Internal branches are more concerned with the individual’s direct experience of the Divine. Therefore, a mystic could be defined as someone who wants the inner experience of what the world’s great religions teach. To use theistic terms, we could say that a soul drawn to mysticism does not want to read about God, she wants to know God through direct experience.
Mystical Hypnotherapy
If we use the above definition to define the word “mystic,” we can ask, “Where in hypnosis education do we find mysticism itself?” Primarily, we find it in the school’s Transpersonal Hypnotherapy training, where we not only focus on themes such as past-life regression and life-between-life regression, yet in the deepest sense of mysticism, we focus on Self-Realization and on the student’s direct experience of Universal Truth. Through acknowledging that there are mystical paths to enlightenment, we honor each student’s journey by allowing Transpersonal Hypnotherapy training to become infused with the wonders of the direct encounter with the Divine itself.
A Movement Away from Madness
God-Intoxicated mystics are said to be drunk on God. They seem completely out of touch with the mundane life of ordinary existence. Perhaps they seem better suited to caves or monasteries, yet there is a deep calling in many of us to want to go very deep into our spirituality, while at the same time living in and being of service in this world. Therefore, a hypnotherapy training rooted in mysticism works towards a balance of spirituality and prosperity. We work to heal ourselves and to heal others, and in this we move away from the insane thinking of our ego minds into the sweet bliss and peace of our True Selves. Mysticism, therefore, is not an escape from the world, but an embracing of the world as sacred with more sanity, clarity, love and joy.
