As a licensed, postsecondary vocational institute, we graduate Hypnotherapists who go into private practice all of the time, yet this can be a scary move for a lot of people who are wanting the security of a full-time job. This blog article is dedicated to those who want to leave their full-time job and to become a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist. We cannot make any promises about what you will do with our hypnosis training after graduation, yet here are a few tips to help to increase the probability of your success.
Being Well-Trained in Hypnotherapy
Your first step is to have training that you can be proud of and confident in. Having a weekend workshop or only 50 to 150 hours of training does not necessarily inspire confidence in those who do these basic workshops. At IIH, we offer 500+ hours of hypnotherapy training, with 150 hours or more of direct hands-on practice. Knowing that you know your stuff and can truly help people is a huge first step in ensuring your success.
What happens after graduating hypnotherapy school?
Most graduates open their own private practice in a full-time or part-time capacity, while others use the training as an adjunct to an existing practice in the healing arts (i.e. with Massage, Acupuncture or Chiropractic, etc.) However, we often advise that people “do not quit your day job” right away. Sometimes it is best to keep working full-time, learn how to market your practice, and then to see clients during evenings and weekends while feeling more secure that you can earn a good living from Hypnotherapy.
What about having my own office?
Hypnotherapy only requires one room, and rents can be quite inexpensive in this regard. Many graduates get their own office space by renting a room in any reasonable office building, others work out of holistic health centers, and others share space with already established practitioners. In the latter case, you can pay by the hour to use another person’s office space when they are not using it. By staying at your current job, you can have minimal overhead by sharing someone else’s space until you are ready to open your own.
How do I get clients?
During your hypnosis training with us, we train you in everything that you need to know for Business and Practice Management, as well as Advertising and Marketing Strategies. This comprehensive training covers all of the basics of internet marketing, social media marketing, networking, lecturing and dozens of other ways to get clients in the door. Generally, upon graduation, you will expect that this is your own business and you will be your own boss. You just need to be sure that your boss is motivating you to do what you need to do to succeed.
A quick Google search will show you the countless number of Hypnotherapists who are out there helping others in this wonderful profession. If you see yourself in a fulfilling profession where you are helping others affect positive life changes, we’d like to help you to take that first step.
