Is there a difference between hypnosis trainings?
Of course, there is! Just as with purchasing a car, there is a difference between an old beat-up junker and a Mercedes. Unfortunately, what happens for the uneducated consumer, is that he or she believes that to have a car is the same as driving a high-end luxury car. In the field of hypnosis training, this is the same as saying that someone is a hypnotist or a hypnotherapist just because they have training in the field. The most important factors to consider in being sure that you get a quality education in hypnosis are:
- Number of hours of training. Do not settle for less than 300 and ideally shoot for 500 hours or more. Our IIH staff members have repeated our training at least once and therefore have over 1,000 classroom and clinical hours in hypnosis education. Don’t settle for less!
- State-Licensure. Without the backing of the US Department of Education, a school does not offer true career diplomas in its respective occupation. Attending a State-Licensed Hypnotherapy School protects the consumer and ensures a high-quality education as backed by leaders in the field of education regulation. This cannot be emphasized enough.
- Online and In-House Learning. Online education for hypnotherapy is exceptionally helpful in increasing one’s ability to learn and comprehend the training material. In-house learning is crucial to master the hands-on skills of hypnosis. A hybrid style of learning has proven to be extremely effective in teaching hypnosis from fundamental to very advanced levels of functioning. Never underestimate the power of eLearning with supervised in-house practical hours.
Why call it Interpersonal Hypnotherapy?
Most hypnosis and hypnotherapy certifications focus on addressing symptoms. Scripts are given to beginning students for a variety of conditions. Topics include: hypnosis for smoking cessation, hypnosis for weight loss, and hypnosis for specific medical conditions, etc. Hypnotherapy training has the ability to take us to the root cause of our problems, yet in Interpersonal Hypnotherapy we focus on the core relationships within the subconscious mind that are causing present day troubles. Here, we do not simply address symptoms, emotions, beliefs or even past events directly (although all of that gets resolved in the process of Interpersonal Hypnotherapy work). In this brand of hypnotherapy, we always encourage looking at the unresolved relationship that needs healing, because once forgiveness is brought to the mind in this way, peace and love follow, and health and harmony are the inevitable result.
