Hypnotherapy Certification through Distance Learning

We were asked this very question when we applied with the Department of Education to begin offering our hybrid style of hypnosis training back in 2009. The Importance of In-House Training
IIH began as a hypnotherapy training that was 100% in-house. Students were required to be in our school for every day of class and had to sit through lecture time even when they were not practicing on each other. It was clear that the theoretical material could be delivered online though the hands-on practical hours still had to remain in the curriculum. We therefore told the Department of Education that we wanted to adopt a hybrid style of distance learning where theory could be learned online and practical hours still needed to occur in-house. They approved and we began our first trials allowing those who wanted to learn from home to do so and those who wanted to be in-house to so as well.
People Love the Internet
We quickly discovered that the majority of our students preferred distance learning for theory. Students could review videos as many times as they liked, thus allowing for an unlimited amount of repetition of the material. It was easier to simply press “pause” to take notes, and students were thrilled to have lifetime access to our ever-growing online library. We adopted what we call Online Interactive Tutorials, which engage the student with cutting-edge online delivery systems, as well as live online classes with qualified instructors to allow questions to be asked in real time, and for important core competencies to be reviewed. The live online classes prepare students for their in-house training and have yielded a notable improvement in student performance. The combination of the following three styles of delivery have been exceptionally successful:
- Online Interactive Tutorials: Hundreds of hours of pre-recorded hypnotherapy classes that students can watch any time and at their own pace.
- Live Online Instruction: Here students interact with a Certified Hypnotherapy Instructor or watch these classes as videos later if they are not able to attend live. Students can always call or email with their questions if they miss live class.
- In-House Practical Hours: IIH requires that 30% of our training is done in a “brick and mortar” location where students learn hypnotherapy on each other and where direct supervision yields a 5-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio.
By combining videos, live classes and in-house training, IIH has developed a way to train students to become certified hypnotherapists, where proven educational methods create exceptional hypnotherapists who are able to go out and transform the world one mind at a time.
