The Institute of Interpersonal Hypnotherapy has continually evolved our Clinical Hypnotherapy Training to help graduates learn the skills and have the depth of understanding necessary to bring hypnosis into medical settings. Through advanced Psychoneuroimmunology techniques to in depth protocols for Hypnodontics, Hypnosis for Childbirth, Healing and Pain Management, and Anatomy and Physiology Training, IIH students discover a comprehensive curriculum that helps to prepare them for private practice and/or working in medical settings.
Clinical Hypnosis Training and Working in Medical Settings
Hypnosis is finding its way into medical, dental and holistic health centers, as more and more people get thorough state-licensed hypnosis training and feel the desire to integrate with medical professionals. IIH graduates have enjoyed working with chiropractors, acupuncturists, doctors and even psychiatrists. Aside from a private practice, bringing hypnosis into medical settings adds prestige to our profession, benefits patients and health care practitioners, and generally makes one’s hypnotherapy practice that much more fulfilling.
Medical Hypnosis within the Law
Many states have strict laws about the practice of hypnosis for medical and dental procedures, and in all 50 US States practitioners must be exceptionally cautious of practicing medicine or dentistry without a license to do so. IIH is licensed by the Department of Education to train students in therapeutic hypnosis where many of the learned techniques require prescription, referral, supervision or direction from a licensed practitioner of the healing arts. Graduates are always encouraged to get a prescription or referral when engaging in therapeutic hypnosis in their own offices and are encouraged to work out of medical, dental and mental health centers whenever the opportunity allows. In-depth training on these topics allows for high professional standards and safe practice for both the hypnotherapist and his or her clients.
Metaphysics and Healing
Professionalism and high educational standards are crucial to allow hypnotherapists to get more respect within medical settings, yet many IIH graduates do desire a form of mental healing that goes beyond what the mainstream is willing to accept. This can involve Transpersonal Hypnotherapy teachings that acknowledge a spiritual component of a human being where miraculous healing can become a reality. For thousands of years, humankind has witnessed medical miracles that are unexplainable within the western models. However, even though these healings may be unexplainable, they are not necessarily impossible to duplicate with a thorough understanding of the metaphysics of healing. Combining science and metaphysics allows for a great range of flexibility for the advanced practitioner.
